Where’s the cover?

Very good question, inquisitive reader.

While I've been hard at work making edits to the book, I have also been working closely with my cover artist to complete the final version of the cover. From what you may have seen on various posts on my Instagram account (and on this blog), the main artwork for the cover, that is, the front and back art, including all the little details and color scheme adjustments, have been completed.

"So what's the hold up?" I hear you asking now. Well, it turns out that the most time consuming part of a cover is, surprisingly, the font. Never could I have imagined that the thing that would be holding up the completion of my cover, is the font. But there's a lot that goes into it; color, style, size, placement, order...and that's not considering the author name of the back cover and spine information. And with thousands of fonts to choose from, many of them just slight variations of others, it can be a bit overwhelming.

But it goes even deeper than that. The importance of the details of a title is not to be taken lightly. A title needs to do many things. It needs to invoke some sort of emotional connection with the reader while also giving them clues to the themes of the story itself. And it needs to draw the reader in. It's the first, and sometimes only, impression made on the potential reader. That's a lot of pressure for just a few words!

So taking all of this into account, I want to make sure my cover, and every little detail of it, is the best it can possibly be. So stay tuned, because the title is very very close to 100% completion. I can't wait to share it with you all.
