What I've learned about publishing so far
My experience with the publishing industry can be summed up in one quote.
“Trial by fire.”
July 2019 Update
Hello there and welcome back to my blog. It’s been a while since I’ve had any kind of formal update, so I thought now would be a great time to let you in on some of the things I’ve been working on these past few months.
November Update
Hey there, thanks for stopping by! It’s been a while since my last official update and a lot has been going on in the last few months. I’ve had two successful test prints of the book, gotten my first official review, approved the final draft of the manuscript and finalized the cover design down to the last detail. It’s been a wild ride and I’m very excited and anxious for the next few weeks.
The Best Laid Plans
Editing is tough work. Nobody can deny that. But, it's very important work. In this writers opinion, it's the difference between an idea and a plan. An idea can take you as far as you can imagine, but a plan can take you as far as the end goal. Editing is the necessary evil that I think every writer has to confront at one point or another. And for me, it's a beast I've been fighting for quite some time.
May Update
It's been a crazy month working on the book. But I'm happy to say that the editing process is going very well! Right now, the manuscript is with a second editor, getting looked at for anything that may have slipped through the cracks. More of a proofread, if you will. The goal is to get a revised draft back in the next two weeks.
Update: April 04
As April begins, I thought it would be a good time to give another update on the status of the book. I am currently working on another round of revisions based on a second read-through and round of edits from my editor. Needless to say, this process has been immensely helpful. Time consuming, but immensely helpful. The book is in much better shape than it's ever been and it's got me even more excited to share it with you all.
Where’s the cover?
While I've been hard at work making edits to the book, I have also been working closely with my cover artist to complete the final version of the cover. From what you may have seen on various posts on my Instagram account (and on this blog), the main artwork for the cover, that is, the front and back art, including all the little details and color scheme adjustments, have been completed.
What’s Happening Now
Something I hope to accomplish with this blog is keeping my readers, and potential readers, informed on things happening while the book is in development. So every now and then you'll see posts like this, letting you know what I'm currently doing to get the book ready for release this year! What really makes this journey special is being able to connect with you, the reader, and share as much as I can so you feel a part of it too. Your support is monumental, both during the writing/editing process and during post-release.
